It’s Tuesday! You know what that means – only one more day until we’re halfway through another work week! I’m going to be honest here and say I actually started this post last Tuesday, but I was so busy with things (like my new gaming computer) that I was a total slacker and never finished it. If you’re anything like me, you might have a hard time getting into the swing of things after vacation. I haven’t posted anything that wasn’t scheduled in quite a while because I was off adventuring in the great white north (just to Niagara Falls, though). I figured I’d just share some pictures and stories for my first post while I’m back so I can ease myself back into things.
When we go to Canada, we typically are there to visit the falls. If you’ve never been to Niagara Falls – go! Seriously, they are so beautiful. Here are a few of the pictures I took while we were there last week.
It was SUPER hot the entire time we were there, which is weird because it’s usually way cooler than Pittsburgh when we’re there. The news kept mentioning how it was the “hottest day of the year.” We could have done without the humidity, because it really drained a lot of our energy. Despite the heat, we had a great time. We’re very used to the area (we used to go 2-3 times a year), so we know where everything is at and we are able to walk to just about everything. It’s like a home away from home to us at this point. The only thing we wanted to do that didn’t happen was venture across to the New York side of the falls. We walked 10 miles both days we were there, and we just couldn’t go any further in the heat. We were total troopers!
There are so many fun things to do near the falls. There are wax museums, moving theaters, plenty of bars and restaurants, and even a Ripley’s Believe it or Not museum. I think Ripley’s will always be one of my favorite museums up there because there is just so much silly stuff to read and look at. There were even these weird ancient torture devices on display, and I’d just like to throw out there that the world may not be beautiful, but it sure could be a heck of a lot worse. Did you know sometimes people got hung in cages outside and were pecked to death by birds? No, thank you.
It was an awesome trip to take with my parents, as usual. My brother sat out this time, he’s never been a fan of the falls, so it had a different feel to it. It was still a blast and I can’t wait to see my parents again. I definitely have been missing them since I moved out.
Anyways, here’s to getting back into the swing of things and hopefully posting at least once every two weeks. I just miss being a kid sometimes and having no responsibilities. I definitely appreciate vacation much more now than ever before, but it’s also so much harder to come home now. Get out there and have fun!
